If you stay away from home to enable you to work at a temporary workplace then you may be able to claim the reasonable cost of breakfast, lunch and evening meal expenses.

If you are travelling from home

If you travel from home to work at a temporary workplace then you may be able to claim the reasonable cost of breakfast, lunch and evening meal expenses. The following rules apply:

• If you leave home before 6.30 you may be able to claim breakfast expenses.
• If you work for more than 5 hours during a working day, you may be able to claim lunch expenses.
• If you are still working on site after 19.00, you may be able to claim the cost of an evening meal.

All subsistence claims must be supported by receipts including the name and address of the establishment and also the time of purchase.
